Nosotros Aprendemos Español

St. Dominic students take a course in Spanish language a minimum of twice weekly. Elementary students gain a familiarity with the Spanish language through song, storytelling, games and role-playing. Grades 3 through 6 further advance their vocabulary, verb usage, and conversation. Grades 7 and 8 meet three times per week with the goal of reaching fluency equal to a high school Spanish I course.

Our partnership with Santo Domingo Parish in El Salvador and our college sponsorship program for two Salvadoran students provide numerous language-building opportunities while making learning Spanish personally relevant. During the school’s annual ‘Fiesta Santo Domingo,’ students engage in a variety of cultural activities to enhance and apply their knowledge of the traditions of Spanish-speaking countries.
