Structured for Success

In 5th Grade, students switch to the Junior High hallway and also change uniforms. As they take these steps, they will experience a classroom that is organized and structured for their success. They learn to adapt procedures and routines that will help them develop self-discipline, which will lead to a calm and positive climate conducive to learning. Daily, students are kept aware of the instructional objectives and receive feedback on their progress toward these objectives. Specials in Spanish, Technology, Library, Art, Music and P.E. are incorporated throughout the week.

Junior High classes are designed to provide a wide range of learning experiences for the students and to take advantage of cross-curricular instruction. Students may have labs in Science class, an extended project in Social Studies, and an outdoor Math activity during P.E. We consider all learning styles and ability levels during planning. The faculty emphasizes organization and study skills, including using planners, note-taking, outlining, and reading in the content area. Students plan and present student-led conferences in the fall in which they practice goal-setting. They revisit their goals throughout the year.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a multitude of extracurricular activities including student council, parish sports teams, Power of the Pen, Music Ministry,  Chess Club, and Beginning & Concert Band. They also act as the spiritual leaders of the student body through required service, prayer partner activities, and weekly mass participation.

Our Junior High students gain the knowledge and skills to grow into conscious Christian citizens, well prepared to succeed in high school, college and beyond.
